5 coffee habits that make you age faster

Drinking coffee instead of breakfast, drinking more than 4 cups a day, or drinking it late at night can accelerate aging.

Research conducted by the National Coffee Association of the United States in 2020 shows that 62% of Americans drink coffee daily. Coffee is a drink many people choose to start their day. Caffeine offers many benefits such as stimulating excitement, reducing fatigue, and drowsiness, reducing inflammation, and increasing memory, cognition, and reflexes. However, drinking coffee improperly can make you age faster. Nutritionist, and CEO of New York Nutrition Group, Lisa Moskovitz points out 5 coffee habits that can accelerate aging.

Drinking coffee instead of breakfast is not good for health and skin.

1. Drink coffee instead of breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So, drinking only coffee in the morning can adversely affect overall health. According to Lisa Moskovitz, breakfast should include enough nutrients such as good starch, fiber, protein, and healthy fats. People who skip breakfast have a higher risk of cognitive decline than those who eat a full breakfast.

2. Add more sugar, cream, and milk to coffee

Adding sugar, milk, or salty creams to coffee can enhance the taste of this drink but have adverse effects on health. Sugar is the “culprit” of collagen and elastin depletion, causing the skin to lose elasticity, easy to form wrinkles, and accelerate aging. Excess sugar in the body can also cause overweight, obesity, and many other dangerous diseases.

Adding a lot of cream, milk, or sugar to coffee can cause an excess of sugar, speeding up the aging process.

3. Drinking too much coffee

Many people abuse coffee to increase alertness and focus at work. Scientific research indicates that an adult should not consume more than 400 mg of caffeine a day, equivalent to about 4 cups of coffee. However, not only coffee contains caffeine, but many other foods also have significant amounts of caffeine. An average cup of tea contains 50 mg of caffeine. This content in Red Bull energy drink is 80 mg and in a can of Coca Cola is 30 mg. Some pain relievers also have caffeine added to make them more effective. Therefore, you should not drink too much coffee to ensure health and safety.

4. Drink coffee late at night

According to Moskovitz, caffeine is a stimulant, and drinking late at night can disrupt sleep. Low-quality sleep weakens the immune system, affects mood, disrupts metabolism, lacks energy, and increases the risk of many other serious diseases. Poor sleep also makes the skin not have enough time to recover and regenerate, accelerating the aging process.

Coffee can cause dehydration, so drink more water to replenish moisture in the skin.

5. Drink coffee instead of water

Coffee is a diuretic, which can dehydrate the body. So, when after drinking coffee, you need to drink more water to compensate for the moisture in your body and skin. Dehydrated skin is prone to wrinkles and other signs of aging. The habit of drinking coffee instead of water can make you ten years older.
